Certifiable

Wow, where does the time go!

Seems like just yesterday all the house stuff was going so well! Well, it kinda was.

So when we last met , there was some craziness but the net of it all was that I was still going to get my house just like I wanted and live happily ever after. Just some minor bumps in the road at that point.

So, fast forward a few weeks. My Sales lady finally gets the approval to start writing contracts under the new company name. Was all just semantics and some funding changes at that point. As soon as I was notified I tried getting on her calendar, but she was already booked up that 1st weekend, so I settled for the 2nd. The 1st weekend she wrote 4 contracts!!
Mine was going to be in the next batch- I think for a total of 6-8!

For those of you who know me and my tendency to over research and over plan, you will not find this surprising. I spent HOURS the day before writing up differnt scenarios.
- do I add the bump up to the island?
- do I get the bronze lighting package
- do I need a taller fence?

All this fun stuff. I was ready to go. I even recall walking to my car Friday night thinking- WOW- I am going to be under contract tomorrow! All this dreaming and planning and saving is going to be worth something on paper!

Well- just over an hour after I had that moment of " IM A GROWN UP". I got a call.

The new builders that were to be funding the process backed out. So, no one was there to build my house. I was kinda in shock. But 2 adult beverages later, I was fine.

Disappointed for sure. Devastated , not a bit.

I have been all over the map ever since.
In my head, online and in my car.

- do I want a house? this walking to work thing is kinda great. Especially for lunch! ( and sleeping in)

- do I want a different house? Can I ever find anything that seemingly perfect?
- do I want to keep renting and not building equity?
- do I want to live further away just to have a house I kinda like?

So- since then I have found another area not too far from the original site of the dream.
Going to visit this weekend. I admit, I am skeptical on the location and will have to be AMAZED at the product before I consider it. Building is still ideal but I know my options are limited.

I have had some fun looking online at "used" homes. What do you call them??? Pre-owned?
But, the peril there is finding something you love too soon!

Oh- and to add to the fun. Just today, my sales lady at original place let me know that the exact house I want ( and the one I have walked through a million times) is now for sale as the buyers backed out. Only catch, 30 day close. Ya, right!

However, the perfect scenario and outcome of this ordeal is still a possibility.
They have several other builders looking at the lots and all seem to be very interested.
Ideally some fantastic builder would sweep in and save the day- selling exact same plans and same price point!

So, that is where we are.

Right foot in, right foot out.
Shaking..thats for sure!

96 2012

Welcome to 2012 folks.
It has been a good start so far, how about yours?

I don't have tons to report on the house front.
Ok, I cant do it.
Its not true.
Lots to report. Yet nothing all at the same time.

1. The Home builder has been bought out by a bank.
2. My mortgage company is no longer doing mortgages.

What does this mean- well- I guess in the world of home building/buying nothing is 100% clear, or certain for that reason.

1. I can still get my house, same product, same price, same everything. However I am going to get a 3rd party warranty on the house in the company has issues again.
This is likely a blessing for me, since I am on a long timeline, and don't want to get into the house before my lease is up, I now how the luxury of deferring as needed :). But September is still the goal.

2. As for the Mortgage company. I don't really care what company I use, as long as I can stay with the precious lady that had been helping me. She is like having a mom with a LOT of money. And advice too!! The good news is this is an election year, and the chances of interest rates going up a lot are slim to none!! So, hooray for politics!

That all being said, I will likely go under contract in the next few weeks, and hope to get an even better deal than I had planned.

Oh- 96 2012? What is that all about you ask? Well, I had nothing exciting as a title. And had to get my now 96 years young Grandma in here somehow!

I have the BEST Grandmother in the world. ( no , I am not biased, I am just accurate) She is so excited for my house adventure and very supportive! Her 96 years of life experience, will be priceless to me throughout this!! Here is a pic from her birthday earlier this month!

What if?

So, as I get closer to the day I may go under contract for this new house, the more real it seems. Along with the reality of it, comes many questions and fears. Hearing stories of friends struggling with illness, suffering and other events, your imagination can go crazy.

What if I lose my job?
What if I get really sick?
What if I need to take care of family?
And, Last but not least, What if I meet Mr. right?

Well folks, I can ensure that the last concern is not going to be an issue any time soon. Based on this weeks events alone, he seems to be far far away at best.

My folks always ask if I have any "suspects" as they like to call them. This week, their terminology is DEAD ON.

I admit, I do online dating. (Laugh if you must, but its more the norm these days than not) And, between folks I know and my own, we can write several books on true stories.

So, this week I was on one of the site, and within 24 hours had 2 GEMS!

1. Opening email from the guy:
"have you ever considered a sugardaddy relationship before"?
- thinking he was joking, I thought I would play along and said " yes, exclusively."
- clearly I was wrong. After a few emails of clarification , it was confirmed, this is what he wanted. I told him he should move on.

2. Guy number 2- less than 24 hours after #1. We start emailing, fun , witty, good chatting back and forth. So, as a basic get to know you question, I ask what he does for a living. He says he interviews actresses for adult films. I replied- "you are full of crap! He then corrected me and said he was serious- I again called him out, as clearly this was a joke.

Nope, its true. This is his job for 3 years out of LA. The end.

3. Get a random text from a number I don't know that says. " do you want to come over tonight?" I asked who it was-and it was a guy I dated a few years ago. Super nice and gentlemanly guy. Had a great time with him. It didn't work out due to big faith differences. But still, nice guy.

Apparently he still has a thing for me and wanted to see me. I offered to meet him as I would be in his part of town that night. He sends me his address as if i were to come to his place. I say, no lets meet some where nearby.

Then, in his honesty he tells me he does not have a car, and is between jobs and has been taking the bus to go to the texas workforce commission. Bless his heart for swallowing his pride and telling me all that.

So, folks this is just the tip of the iceberg as to what kind of options we single ladies have here in the year of 2011.

Please know I am not playing the sad card AT ALL. I am so blessed to be where I am in life, but feel that I cannot keep these hilarious stories to myself!!

It's what's on the inside that counts, right?

So this neighborhood is a pre- planned community with rules about how many elevations of type A they can have , and what can be next door to each other , etc.

I would guesstimate that there are about 150-200 homes in the subdivision. Most are 1 1/2-2 story homes. There are only a few single story ( which is what I am planning on). There are 3 different elevation options.

1st Option (included in cost)- some stone work, brick and high pitched roof. (Santa would not have a chance!)

2nd Option- (which isnt really an option for me based on location, but I find adorable) How cute is that?

And 3rd Option (A few dollars more!!)
I have a love/hate relationship with this one.
On one hand I LOVE the porch, as it is deeper and more grand than the other homes, I adore the windows on the right of the pic as they wrap around the side. But, I am not a fan of 1/2 circle windows!! (as seen on window on left of pic and above door)Click on pic... much easier in zoom mode.

As you can tell I didn't take any pics of the 1st elevation, as I find it kinda blah, but can deal with it if that is what it comes down to. I still get to pick stone and brick colors and a door that will look fantastic with a wreath!

So, is it really whats on the inside that counts? Is it important for the outside to be unique (ish)? Come on home owners- speak up!!

If it is the inside that counts, I should be good there too as I already got some fantastic chairs!! ( thanks TJ maxx!!)

I'm baaaack!

Ok folks, so I am attempting to blog again.

Not that I have anything all that exciting in my life to blog about, but here goes nothing.

The only sorta fun thing I have is the purchase of my 1st home! I have been looking for a place for literally years, and now am in a place where I am comfortable doing so financially and found what I think to be perfect!

What is it- a patio home!
What is that- perfect!

Ok, fine , you want more words. It just means 0 lot line, and the HOA takes care of the yard!! I will have a small and adorable front yard, and a tiny patio just big enough for a bbq grill and a few chairs.

I have a few pics and will attempt to post..bear with me :)
